My name is Carol Garon and I teach 3rd grade at Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge, LA. This
is my 4th year at PBS and I love being here. Before PBS, I taught at Belfair Elementary in EBR and P.E. at Lake Sherwood
School. While at Lake Sherwood, I was Athletic Director and coached girls volleyball, basketball, and softball. I
coached High School Volleyball for 5 years, as well as, club volleyball with Volleyball Baton Rouge. I currently coach
the PBS freshmen and am an assistant coach for the varsity team.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with certification in grades 1-8 and am currently
working on my masters from Louisiana College. I have completed the course "Using Handhelds in the Classroom", learning
how to incorporate handheld computers into my lessons. Technology is here; why not use it to make learning fun and exciting.
I have been married to my husband, Danny, for 28 years and we have three children. Katie
is an alumnus of PBS and LSU with a degree in Criminology. She rode for LSU's Equestrian team for 4 years receiving
numerous wins and qualifying for Nationals in Mass. where she placed 15th overall in the United States Collegiate Hunters.
Chad is employed by The Island Country Club, working toward his PGA degree. Brandt is also a PBS alumnus and is
currently attending Meridian Jr. College on a golf scholarship. Brandt was a member of the 2 time 3A State Championship
Golf Team at PBS. His individual titles include Metro and Regional Champion and State runner up. In Jr. Golf,
he was named points leader and Boys Player of the Year for Arrowhead Jr. Golf Tour. His senior year, Brandt was ranked
as the #4 junior golfer in the state of Louisiana. His college golf career has added many more achievements to his resume',
one being the NJCAA Champion for 2010 and the Arnold Palmer Award. He has recently sign a golf scholarship to play for
University of Louisiana, Lafayette (ULL).
Our extended family consist of 3 dogs, a MinPin named Princess (who is no princess), a Boxer named
Rini, and a bloodhound named Cleetus. We have a cat named Mama C and Katie's show horse, a Thoroughbred, named Ruff.
When I'm not teaching, I love being on the golf course, watching LSU sports, reading, LSU sports,
playing with new technology, getting manicures and pedicures, LSU sports, hanging out with friends, and of course my family.
Oh yeah! Did I mention LSU sports?
We have a very busy life, like everyone else, but we strive each day to seek and
follow God's will for our lives. Life is so much sweeter when we are in His will.
"For
I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and
a future."
